Meet Senator Don Schaible

Don Schaible is a lifelong farmer, educator, and community leader who has spent more than four decades serving the people of District 31. Born in Elgin and raised on his family farm near Mott, Don built a career rooted in hard work, common sense, and a commitment to rural North Dakota.First elected to the North Dakota Senate in 2010, Don has become known for his steady, results-driven approach to public service. He represents District 31 with a focus on supporting families, strengthening rural communities, and advancing smart, responsible policy that keeps North Dakota strong.

A Lifetime of Leadership

TRUSTED RECORD OF SERVICE

Don and his family operate a diversified grain farm spanning more than 10,000 acres, giving him firsthand experience with agriculture, small-town economics, and the challenges facing rural families. His service extends farm beoynd the farm:

  • 20 years on the Mott & Mott-Regent School Board
  • 25 years with the Volunteer Fire Department, earning life membership in the ND Firefighter Association
  • 26 years with the Mott Ambulance Service
  • Board Member, Mott Health Care Center
  • Hettinger County Representative, Southwest Water Board
  • Vice Chair, Emergency Response Committee

At the Capitol, Don serves on Senate Appropriations Committee, Budget Section, Government Finance Committee, and represents North Dakota on both Energy Council Executive Committee and the Education Commission of the States Steering Committee.
